Brief Summary

Dr Zhang is a Research Assistant Professor at the Department of Sport and Physical Education, Hong Kong Baptist University. His research interests are in studying acceptance and mindfulness in sport and health contexts, as well as motivational, psychosocial, and social-cognitive factors in health behaviors. Within these two major streams of research, Dr Zhang is also interested in the person-environment interactions and socioeconomic influences on health behaviors. Serving as the principal investigator, he is currently working on a research project on mindfulness on sport performance and mental health of elite athletes, which is funded by the National Science Foundation of China (NSFC). He has just completed a project on influenza prevention funded by the Health and Medical Research Fund (HMRF), and another four internal research projects. In terms of community services, he is an associate editor with the International Journal of Sport Psychology and Health Psychology section of the Frontiers in Psychology, as well as editorial board member for five international peer-reviewed journals.
